“SNOWFLAKE”

– showcasing “Aemar”, a roleplay character by Ari

Character design inspired by Conan Exiles assets

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Dear Ari,

Best wishes to you on this special day. It has been over a year now that we met in this crazy world that is the Conan Exiles roleplay community. Aemar has been the first character of yours that I have gotten to know, and though you have so many more great characters in your drawers, this one will always have a bit of a special touch to me, which is why I chose him as the motive for your birthday present. Hopefully, I did him justice. @.@

Truly, you inspired me. You still do. Your creativity seems to know no end and the way everything you create – character, story, or environment – has so much depth and thought is simply incredible. I hope I get to witness more of your talents and I also hope I get to contribute a little bit to your happiness. You deserve it. You deserve so very much of it.

For Splash Arts, over-detailing is not a term I can justify. It brings me joy to work on little things that might go unnoticed at a quick glance but bring more depth, character, and realism to the picture.

Even though I have finished several splash arts after “Snowflake”, the piece for Aemar I created is still my favorite to this very day, and the texture on the stitching of the gloves and other leather pieces serves as a perfect example of details I love to add, even if they do go unnoticed by the average viewer’s eye. I personally very much enjoy details like these.

Eye lashes have to be worked out individually for me. Clusters with lazy shading will never satisfy me when I worked on high-quality pieces. Semi-glowing eyes also very much inspire me and spark joy for me, because I can work with different effects, to add depth and texture, depending on mood and light settings of the piece.

The dagger I added was a finishing touch. Usually, that is not a weapon that Aemar would wield, but in my eyes, it underlined the character who is incredibly beautiful in his complexity, but equally as dangerous. I used silver for the dagger not to take away from the focus of the art piece, and to match the generally cold colors.
